FAQ

What is the legal tread depth for tyres?

In the UK the minimum amount of tread across three quarters of a tyre's circumfrence is 1.6mm on a car or van. However, most tyres' performance, particularly in wet weather drops considerably below 3mm and most manufacturers and industry professionals would not advise less than 2mm. For Motorcycles the legal tread depth across three quarters of the circumfrence is slightly less at 1mm, with a visible tread pattern covering the final quarter.
