FAQ

Should I invest in all-season tyres?

The idea of an all-season tyre is simple: instead of drivers having to deal with the hassle of constantly switching between snow and summer tyres as the seasons change, the all-season tyre meant that you only need to use one tyre all year round. The premise is great and can really help you to cut back on expenditure as you would normally have to buy different sets of tyres each year, while it also makes it less complicated for drivers who aren’t necessarily experts in changing a tyre – a process which can be time consuming and difficult, especially in the poor winter months.

Many people make the mistake of believing that "all-season" tyres provide great performance in all seasons, that they will work equally as well in the summer as they do in winter, but this is not actually the case. Basically, an all-season tyre is a compromise of the two – combining the best aspects of each design but losing some essentials in the process. For instance, in order to get better mobility in winter and snowy conditions, they have had to remove its grip in wet weather, giving drivers adequate performance throughout the year. Each tyre varies in how well they perform in winter, with some giving great grip and others giving reasonable amounts – but that doesn’t mean to say that they are effective. All-season tyres can work throughout the year, but they can’t wish to meet the same levels of performance as you would expect with buying tyres individually with the sole purpose of working in their given season.

What are the benefits of an all-season tyre?

Having an all-season tyre can have its downfalls, but there are also a lot of benefits that are associated with the design, with some common examples including:

·         Longevity – all-season tyres extremely durable, especially when it comes to dry pavements as their specially designed rubber gives them extra wear.

·         Simple – instead of having to constantly upgrade and change your tyres depending on the time of year, all you need to do with an all-season tyre is to drive – the time and effort of changing a tyre in the winter months is over.

·         Cheap – buying a set of all-season tyres are a lot cheaper than buying individual sets as you are essentially making a one off purchase.
