Questions to ask when choosing a tyre

Where will you be doing most of your driving?

If you’ll be doing most of your driving around town then perhaps a tyre with a slightly higher decibel rating wont bother you so much. However, if you’re likely to be spending time on the motorways frequently then a quieter tyre, and a more fuel efficient one will certainly be more attractive. If you’re confused about the tyre label then check out our guide to the new EU tyre label here.

Where do you live?

Those of us living in the North of the country are used to the rain and the usually cooler temperatures that our southern counterparts tend to miss out on, and as such choosing the right tyres for you can be influenced by the are you live. With the seasons each becoming more extreme and 2013 seeing the wettest spring since records began, it’s now more important than ever to be thinking about the weather where you are when choosing the right tyre.

You can check a tyres performance in wet weather against others using the standardised EU tyre label that scores a tyres ability to stop in the wet.

You can also see our wide range of winter tyres, which are becoming more popular than ever with the more extreme winters of recent years.

Did you buy your car new or used?

If you bought your car from new than a good bet if cost isn’t necessarily a priority is to stick with the original equipment that the manufacturer has chosen for your vehicle and is currently fitted to the car.

If however, you bought your car used or second hand, there is a chance that the previous owner has fitted incorrect tyres to your vehicle. You’ll be able to check this by use our Vehicle Registration Look up here or by calling us on 0333 9000 201

Do you know your tyre size?

Not everyone know’s their tyre size off the top of their head. By using our Vehicle Registration lookup, you simply type if you’re vehicles registration and we’ll show you a couple of options that your manufacturer recommends for your car. You then have two options. If you know the tyre size you currently have, or are confident in the size you’re after you can accept and proceed to the checkout immediately. Or you can jot down/print off our handy diagram showing the recommended tyre sizes and make sure the numbers on the printout match those on your car’s tyres. It’s really that easy.

You can also search by your vehicle manufacturer details if you’re unsure of your registration plate and then follow the above steps to complete the order.

Finally: What's important to you?

Is it the price of the tyre? Easywheels have a great range of budget tyres available, some out performing their higher end counterparts in the EU testing.

Is it the environmental impact, the effect on the planet you’re worried about? If so then looking at a tyres fuel efficiency will help you to find a tyre that is best suited to you.

Safety of paramount importance to you? Well check out the EU tyre labels wet weather performance indicator which scores a tyre based on it’s ability to stop in wet conditions and you’ll be able to compare tyres on this characteristic.

Remember, whilst the initial price may seem a little higher on some tyres it is worth looking at some of the characteristics and reviews of a tyre as it could actually save you money over the long term.

At Easywheels we want you to be riding on the best tyres for you, so if you have any questions or you’re still confused please do to take a look around our site and FAQs or give us a call on 0333 9000 201
